JetX™: Fully Automated Sample Preparation for Content Uniformity and Assay Testing

Manual sample preparation for content uniformity (CU) and assay testing remains slow, repetitive, and difficult to document reliably. JetX™ from SOTAX addresses this challenge with fully automated preparation built on patented Jet Xtraction™ technology, in which a continuous jet of media inside a cell rapidly yet gently extracts active pharmaceutical ingredients from tablets, capsules, semi-solids, and other dosage forms. High media flow rates drive fast disintegration or focused erosion, followed by homogenization in a flow-through media reservoir with integrated magnetic stirring and gravimetric volume control; optional heating up to 60 °C supports difficult formulations. The system is available in two configurations. SingleFlow targets R&D and method development, enabling single extractions and rapid investigation of method parameters. MultiFlow addresses high-volume routine workflows, processing up to 120 samples per shift — roughly four times the output of a single analyst. Five integrated extraction modules run simultaneously, and JetMag™ magazines enable the unattended preparation of 30 samples in one continuous sequence covering filling, extraction, sampling, fine filtration down to 0.2 microns, dilution up to 1:100, collection in standard U/HPLC vial plates, and self-cleaning. Speed-trial data demonstrate equivalence with established manual methods (100.1% vs. 99.9% label claim, comparable RSD) at roughly four-times-shorter cycle times and an 80% reduction in operator labor. Every step is automatically documented through AutoDI™ and exportable to LIMS, q-doc®, or Waters Empower via DataLink™, ensuring full traceability and GMP compliance. Because the analytical procedure remains unchanged, JetX™ integrates without analytical method revalidation.
